James Walter, CDME

Jim Walter is an accomplished destination marketing and tourism executive with more than two decades of leadership experience in the travel, tourism, and event management industries. As interim President and CEO of Visit Cheyenne, Jim has overseen strategic growth in branding, group sales, event development, and stakeholder relations, positioning the organization as a recognized leader both regionally and nationally.

Jim currently serves as the Interim President and CEO of Visit Cheyenne, Wyoming’s capital city DMO, where he oversees day-to-day operations, staff leadership, marketing, and the expansion of homegrown events such as the Hell on Wheels Rodeo and Chuck Wagon Dinner Series. Under his leadership, the bureau has seen record tourism impact, a revitalized event portfolio, and major growth in sponsorships and hotel bookings. He has played a key role in building strong relationships with city, county, state, and private sector partners.
Walter is the proud father a talented daughter Loriana and is married to Stacie, and they enjoy travel, great whiskey, craft beer and good wines together.
