Wildfire and smoke have become defining seasonal realities for destinations built around summer outdoor recreation—compressing booking windows, changing visitor behavior, disrupting the visitor experience, and putting local economies and long-term destination reputations at risk.
The Smoke & Wildfire Committee brings together DMO peers who face these challenges each season to share what is working, what is not, and how destinations can respond more effectively. Members will exchange strategies for preparedness, visitor communication, crisis response, recovery, and reputation management while exploring collaborative solutions that help destinations protect visitor confidence and strengthen the resilience of their communities and tourism economies.
