Professional Bio
Samara Phelps is the President & CEO of Travel Lane County, bringing over 15 years of leadership in destination management, tourism development, and organizational strategy. A strategic and values-driven leader, she has led transformational initiatives that support local businesses, enhance quality of life, and align tourism with broader economic goals.
Previously, Samara served as Executive Director of Clackamas County Tourism and on the County’s executive management team, where she championed regional collaborations across Mt. Hood, the Columbia River Gorge, the Willamette Valley, and the Portland metro area.
She holds a BA from the University of Oregon, is a graduate of the Oregon Tourism Leadership Academy and the Chinook Institute for Civic Leadership. Samara currently serves on the Collaborative Economic Development Organization board and as Chair of the Oregon Destination Association, advocating for a resilient, community-centered tourism economy that benefits all Oregonians.
